Privacy policy
The short version. This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from other companies. In the app, your chats and profile are saved on your device. To reply, speak and listen, the app sends your message text, the text of voice notes and call lines, and your recordings through our server to AI providers, with data collection set to "deny". Busyline does not read your location, does not track you and does not alert anyone. You must be 18 or over.
1. Who we are
"Busyline", "we" and "us" mean the operator of the Busyline website and app. Busyline is a trading name. The legal entity that operates it, and its registered address, will be named on this page before the app is released. You can reach us at hello@busyline.app for anything about your data.
We act as the controller of personal data as described below. The European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies.
2. This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no tracking. The site has no forms and no sign-up. Its fonts, images and scripts are served from the same address; nothing is requested from other companies.
- Hosting. The site is delivered by Amazon Web Services (S3 and CloudFront). To deliver a page, AWS necessarily receives your IP address and basic request details (for example the page asked for and your browser type). We do not turn on access logging for the site and we do not collect or look at visitor data. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
- The example call on the home page is a written script that runs in your browser. It records nothing, uses no microphone and sends nothing.
- If you email us at hello@busyline.app, we receive your message and your email address and use them to reply. Mail to that address passes through Amazon SES and is forwarded to the operator's mailbox. We keep correspondence only as long as it is useful to answer you and to keep a record of the conversation. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you (or, if you ask about a service, steps before a contract).
3. The app (in development): what stays on your device
- Your profile (your name, anything you choose to tell the characters about you, language, voice and style settings), the people you create, and your chat history are saved on your device. We do not keep a copy.
- These are stored without any extra encryption of our own, so your phone's passcode and device protection are what keep them private. Deleting the app deletes them.
- If you set an emergency number, it is stored on your device. The red Emergency button only opens your phone's dialer with that number; you press call. Busyline never dials by itself and never contacts anyone on your behalf.
4. The app: what leaves your device, and where it goes
Busyline needs outside services to work. When you use the app, the following is sent to our server and passed on:
| What | When | Goes to |
|---|---|---|
| The text of your messages and the profile details needed to personalise replies; short summaries of earlier messages so long chats keep their context | Every time you send a message or a call needs a reply | Our server, then an AI language model through OpenRouter and the model provider it uses |
| Text for voice notes and for what a character says on a call | When a voice note or call line is spoken | Our server, then a text-to-speech provider (ElevenLabs) through OpenRouter |
| Recordings: voice notes you send and what you say during a call | When you record or talk | Our server, which converts the audio and sends it to a speech-to-text model (Whisper) through OpenRouter |
- Our server does not store this content. It forwards it, and keeps only what it needs to run (for example error messages and short-lived counters that limit abuse).
- Every request to OpenRouter is sent with data collection set to deny, which asks the routed providers not to store your data or train on it. We do not control those providers' systems; each applies its own terms, and a provider may process data briefly to answer you.
- Location: Busyline does not read it. Contacts, photos, calendar: not accessed. Microphone: used only while you record a voice note or are on a call. Notifications: used on your device to ring a call you scheduled; there is no push-notification server.
- What you say and write can reveal sensitive things (about health, relationships or beliefs). We do not ask for any of it, you decide what to say, and the processing is needed to give you the service you asked for.
5. Accounts (planned for launch)
Before launch we expect to add sign-in (an emailed one-time code, or Sign in with Apple or Google) using Amazon Cognito, and per-user usage limits. When that exists, we will store on AWS in Ireland: your email address or the identifier the sign-in provider gives us, your plan, and usage counters (kept for about 35 days). We will not store message content. You will be able to delete your account in the app. We will update this section when it goes live.
6. AI and automated decisions
Every character in Busyline is a fictional AI. The app says so in each chat and on each call. Nothing in the app makes decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
7. Who else handles data (our service providers)
- Amazon Web Services: website hosting, our server, sign-in (Cognito) and email (SES), in the EU (Ireland) where we choose the region.
- OpenRouter and the providers it routes to for language models, voice (ElevenLabs) and speech-to-text (Whisper).
- Apple and Google: the app stores and, if you choose it, sign-in.
We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising.
8. Transfers outside the EU
Some of these providers are in, or process data in, the United States or elsewhere outside the European Economic Area. Where data leaves the EEA we rely on the transfer safeguards the provider offers (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision). We will list the specific mechanism for each provider on this page before the app is released.
9. How long we keep things
- On your device: until you delete it or the app.
- On our server: message, voice and call content is not stored. Usage counters: about 35 days. Account data (when accounts exist): until you delete your account.
- Email you send us: only as long as needed to answer and keep a record.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us for access to your personal data, correction, erasure, restriction, a portable copy, and you can object to processing based on our legitimate interests. Where processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Because your chats live on your device, you can already see and delete them yourself. To use any right, email hello@busyline.app; we will answer within one month. You also have the right to complain to the data-protection authority in the EU country where you live or work.
11. Children
Busyline is for adults only. You must be 18 or over to use it, every character is an adult, and we do not knowingly process personal data of anyone under 18. If you think a child has used the app, tell us and we will help.
12. Security
Traffic between the app, our server and our providers is encrypted in transit. Access to our systems is limited to what is needed to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that data can never be intercepted or disclosed.
13. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will change the date at the top and, once the app exists, tell you in the app before the change applies.
